Hong Kong Outdoor Rescue
Robot Dog Digital Twin System
An interactive digital twin prototype exploring how robotic systems can support search-and-rescue operations in Hong Kong's challenging outdoor environments.

01 / PROJECT OVERVIEW
USING AI AND DIGITAL TWINS
TO SUPPORT SAFER AND SMARTER
MOUNTAIN RESCUE
SkyRescue HK is a concept project that explores how AI, robotics
and digital twin technology can support mountain search and rescue
operations in Hong Kong. It aims to improve situational awareness,
reduce risks for rescue teams, and enable faster, more informed
decision-making in complex terrain.
02 / THE CHALLENGE
RISING RISKS IN MOUNTAIN RESCUE
Mountain rescue in Hong Kong is often conducted in complex and unpredictable environments. Rescue teams face multiple challenges that can affect safety, efficiency and decision-making.

03 / OUR SOLUTION-THE SYSTEM
A COLLABORATIVE SYSTEM
ACROSS THE PHYSICAL
AND DIGITAL WORLDS

My system combines a physical robot dog with adigital twin system. The robot explores hard-to-reachareas and collects real-time data, which is visualisedin a 3D digital environment. This allows rescue teamsto monitor conditions, simulate scenarios and makebetter-informed decisions.
04 / HUMAN IN THE LOOP
TECHNOLOGY TO SUPPORT,
NOT REPLACE
The system keeps humans at the centre of every decision. AI and robotic systems provide real-time data and recommendations, but final decisions are made by experienced rescue professionals based on their on-the-ground knowledge and judgement.

When the system detects an abnormal state, the interface can alert an
operator and support intervention if automatic recovery is unsuccessful.

“I didn’t start this project knowing how to build a digital twin.I started with a question: What if technology could helprescuers make safer decisions before entering the mountains?”
— A personal reflection

CURIOUS TO SEE HOW IT WORKS?
